Times are hard these days. Over the
years, unemployment has become an issue for many Americans. According to
latest figures released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the
unemployment rate in the United States is 8.2 percent as of March 2012.
The number of unemployed persons was at 12.7 million. The BLS also
reported that the number of long-term unemployed persons (those without
jobs for more than 27 weeks) stayed at 5.3 million for the same period,
representing 42.5 percent of the unemployment rate. Since April of last
year, the number has dropped by 1.4 million.
Losing a job is not the end of the world.
